Wonderful restaurant by the river close to Colchester. Having not found anywhere decent to eat in Colchester itself we looked further afield and found this gem. Excellent and imaginative food at a sensible price. Bravo.

We have eaten in many Michelin starred and rosette restaurants over the years and Talbooth served the tastiest plate of food I've ever eaten.. the lamb was incredible so much so that if people were not looking I would've licked the plate clean.. stunning!
My brother and I took our mother here earlier today for lunch as a Mother's Day gift, and we had a fantastic meal! We all had the croquettes, and they were delicious! My mother and I had the chicken dish on their lunch menu, and I must say... I don't think I have tasted a better chicken meal in a very long time! The chicken was cooked to perfection, and the mashed potato complimented it so well. I couldn't help myself from ordering the triple cooked chips and no surprise, they also tasted soooo good! My brother got the venison dish on the lunch menu and said it was delicious as well. The service was first class, and the actual restaurant was beautiful. We had a nice view of the river, and overall, it was a wonderful experience. I will certainly be coming back to tru their dinner menu in the future!
